Pick Ubud if…

- You want the longer ride: two hours against ninety minutes.
What about the wet season?
Both run in light rain, and the Ubud track is genuinely better when wet — that is the point of it. Kintamani is less affected by rain because volcanic rock and ash drain quickly, though parts of the ash track do soften. Cloud builds over Mount Batur from late morning most days, so an early Kintamani departure gets the clearest caldera views.
