Equipment, guides and age limits
Safety standards
Every activity begins with a safety briefing and includes all required equipment in the price. ATV riders get a helmet, riding boots, gloves and a body protector; rafters get a helmet, buoyancy jacket and paddle; snorkellers get a buoyancy jacket and an in-water guide. Activity insurance is included on every tour.
Before anything starts
Every ride starts with a briefing from the team. You are fitted with a machine, full safety gear and clear riding instructions, then given a practice lap on flat ground before the track begins — so nobody sets off unsure of what the throttle does.
All guides are local, English-speaking, and ride the track with your group rather than sending you off alone.

Age, weight and licence rules
- No driving licence is required to ride an ATV in Bali on a private track. Riders receive a briefing and a practice lap before the tour starts.
- Riders aged 12 and over can drive their own ATV. Children from about 5 ride as a passenger on a tandem machine with an adult driving.
- The working weight limit for a single ATV is around 120 kg. Mention it when booking so the right machine is prepared.
- You do not need to be able to swim to go rafting in Bali. Every rafter wears a buoyancy jacket and a helmet, and a trained guide steers each boat.
- Non-swimmers can join these snorkeling trips. Buoyancy jackets are provided and worn for the whole time in the water, and a guide stays in the water with the group.
- Each Silver Class booking includes up to 5 grams of silver. Pieces that need more silver than that are charged for the extra material at the studio, and you keep whatever you make.
Weather
Tours run in light rain — the tracks are at their best when they are wet. If conditions are genuinely unsafe the activity is rescheduled or refunded in full, and that call is made by the guide on the day.
At sea the call is stricter. Snorkeling trips to Nusa Penida, and the sunrise dolphin boat at Lovina, are cancelled when swell makes the crossing unsafe — and when that happens the indoor Silver Class is the usual replacement.
Medical conditions
These are physical outdoor activities. Back problems, recent surgery, heart conditions and pregnancy are all worth raising on WhatsApp before you book, so we can point you at the right tour or a gentler alternative. Activity insurance is included, but travellers should also carry their own travel insurance and check it covers adventure activities.
Safety questions
What happens if it rains?
Tours run in light rain — the tracks are at their best when they are wet. If conditions are genuinely unsafe the activity is rescheduled or refunded in full, and that call is made by the guide on the day.
Is it worth doing an ATV tour in the rainy season?
Yes — the tracks are at their best when wet, and the mud sections are the part most people remember. The Uluwatu limestone track drains fastest and copes best with heavy rain, while Kintamani is the least affected by mud.
What safety equipment is provided?
ATV tours include a helmet, riding boots, gloves and a body protector for every rider. Rafting includes a helmet, a buoyancy jacket and a paddle. Snorkeling includes a mask, snorkel, fins and a buoyancy jacket. All of it is included in the price.
Are these activities insured?
Yes. Activity insurance is included in the price of every tour on this site. Travellers should still carry their own travel insurance, and should check that it covers adventure activities.
Are the guides trained?
Guides are local and English-speaking, ride or paddle with the group rather than sending it off alone, and river trips are run by licensed river guides. Every activity begins with a safety briefing before anything else happens.
What if I have a medical condition?
Tell us on WhatsApp before booking. These are physical outdoor activities, and back problems, recent surgery, heart conditions and pregnancy are all worth raising in advance so the right tour — or a gentler alternative — can be suggested.
